We've Got The County Covered

MaryLou Schaffer

On May 2nd, 2026, at 2:17am are beloved Mother and grandmother MaryLou Schaffer went to be with the Lord. She passed peacefully with her daughter Cindy by her side. MaryLou was born in Glasgow, MT on February 21, 1944, to Dell Livingston and Alice (Archambeault) Livingston.

MaryLou was raised in Havre, MT where she married Arnold Hall in July of 1962. While operating their family cattle ranch, they raised their three daughters Cara, Cindy, and Camie. Chandell Hall was their fourth daughter and preceded her in death.

MaryLou worked at Northern Montana Hospital as an LPN while raising her daughters and helping on the ranch. After MaryLou and Arnold's divorce in 1988, she went on to finish her nursing degree graduating in 1986. Upon graduating she worked as an Registered Nurse at Benefis hospital in Great Falls, Montana.

After many years of tolerating the cold Montana winter, she relocated to Ventura, CA . Where she met and married George Schaffer on June 30, 1990. They moved to San Clemente, California where she continued her nursing career specializing in the cardiac unit. In 1994 she opened and ran a gift shop. MaryLou named the gift shop "The White Rabbit" which was a tribute to her love for Disney.

After George's passing in 2000, MaryLou went back to school and became an aesthetician and yoga therapist. She opened a practice in her home and coined her practice the "Fluff and Puff".

In 2014 MaryLou moved back to Montana where she resided with her daughter Cindy in Joliet, MT. MaryLou led an active and happy life. She was always smiling and trying to help anyone she could-even later in life. MaryLou was always ready to go out to lunch at the drop of a hat, this was her favorite way to spend time with family or friends. MaryLou enjoyed helping Cindy with her yard and barn chores; always offering to help feed horses-even in the cold Montana winters.

In the later years (besides going to lunch) her favorite pass time was "stirring Cindy's kitchen". She was constantly cleaning and moving everything around. MaryLou was con-vinced she was "helping." This level of "helping" usually turned into Cindy frantically looking for the missing items. A lesson she taught us all-never leave something unattended on the kitchen counter, especially if you need it later!

MaryLou had seven grandchildren Shandel Hammond (Greenough), Shilo Hammond (Char-trand), ShyAnne Hammond (Chradduck), Garrett and Carson Kane, Ethan (Summer) and Jordan Smith. She also had eleven great-grandchildren that she loved dearly.

MaryLou had a fond love for Bichon Frise dogs. Her lifelong Bichon, Peaches, was always by her side. Peaches never missed a road trip and even had a handheld carrier that MaryLou toted everywhere. Her latest Bichon, Zoie was always on her lap and shared every meal with her.

MaryLou was preceded in death by her mother and father Alice and Del Livingston, her husband George Schaffer, and her brother Robert Livinston.

She brought joy and laughter to every event, "Shane" would attest to that. She will be dearly missed. Maybe Cindy will finally be able to keep track of her house slipper, that somehow always ended up in her possession. MaryLou will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Havre on June 6 at 2:30pm with a celebration of life afterword at Vic's Place.
