We've Got The County Covered
When many people think of 4-H at the Blaine County Fair, livestock often comes to mind first. While the animal projects are an important part of the fair, the 4-H Building is also filled with outstanding indoor exhibits that showcase months of learning, creativity, and hard work by local youth.
Throughout the year, 4-H members explore projects that match their interests and build valuable life skills. At fair time, they proudly display the results of their efforts through exhibits in areas such as photography, woodworking, sewing, quilting, foods and nutrition, visual arts, leathercraft, welding, STEM, gardening, shooting sports, and many other project areas.
One of the most valuable parts of exhibiting is the interview portion of the fair. Rather than simply dropping off a project, each member has the opportunity to meet one-on-one with an interview judge. During these interviews, youth explain what they learned, discuss the challenges they faced, describe the skills they developed, and reflect on how they might improve their project in the future. This process helps members build confidence, strengthen communication skills, practice goal setting, and learn how to accept constructive feedback, all skills that will benefit them well beyond their 4-H years.
The ribbons displayed with each exhibit recognize quality workmanship, but they also represent perseverance, problem-solving, and personal growth. Every project tells a story of learning and dedication.
We invite everyone attending the Blaine County Fair to spend some time exploring the 4-H Building. It will be open daily Thursday - Saturday (August 6th - 8th). You’ll find creative displays, innovative projects, and impressive craftsmanship completed by youth from across the county. Take a moment to read project descriptions, congratulate exhibitors, and appreciate the time and effort these young people have invested throughout the year.
The 4-H Building is a wonderful reminder that 4-H is about much more than projects. It is about helping young people gain confidence, develop life skills, and become caring, capable leaders. We hope you’ll stop by, support our local youth, and celebrate their accomplishments during this year’s Blaine County Fair.
