Wildcats finish third in District 2B boys race, send eight to Northern B Divisional

Senior Damon Adams had another spectacular showing at the District 2B Track and Field meet in Wolf Point this past Saturday finishing second in the 100 and 200 Meter Dashes while winning the 400 Meter dash and running legs on both of Harlem's second place relay teams.

The Harlem Wildcat boys finished third at the District 2B Track and Field meet held in Wolf Point this past Saturday. The boys scored 100.5 points on the day and qualified both the short and long relays and five individuals for the Northern B in Glasgow this Saturday.

The Wildcat girls qualified two for the Northern B picking up strong performances from freshman L'Tia Lawrence and sophomore Haley Johnson.

Senior Damon Adams is one of the top sprinters in all of Class B and was impressive on Saturday. Adams battled with Benji Phillips in the sprints in three photo finishes.

In the 100 Meter Dash Adams finished in :11.66 to finish second, four hundredths of a second behind Phillips. In the 200 Meter Dash, Adams was edged out by one/one hundredths of a second finishing the race in :23.99.

The 400 Meter Dash proved to be Adams best of the day as he bested Phillips by five Hundredths of a second to win the race with a split of :52.11. In the end the two sprinters finished 1-2 in the three sprints with exactly the same time meaning the Northern B will be another great competition to watch.

Senior Reece Hutton has been one of the states best throwers, regardless of class the past few years and is Harlem's school record holder in the Shot Put.

Hutton finished second at the State B last spring and looks to ascend to the top of the podium this spring. His pursuit is off to a solid start after winning both the Shot Put and the Discus at the District 2B.

Hutton won the Shot Put with a toss of 47'7" and was victorious in the Discus with a flip of 137'6". Hutton is already qualified in both events for the State B in Butte later this month.

Senior Tyus Hammett is qualified already for the State B in the High Jump and continued to perform well in the event this past Saturday. Hammett cleared 6'0" to finish second at the District 2B.

Hammett also advanced to the Northern B in the 300 Meter Hurdles (4th) and the 110 Meter Hurdles (2nd).

Also qualifying for the Northern B is freshman Taggert Devaney. Devaney will compete in Glasgow in both the 300 Meter Hurdles and the 800 Meter Run after earning second place finishes at the District 2B.

Senior Tyus Hammett advanced to the Northern B

The Wildcats will also send both the short and long relay teams to Glasgow. The quartet of sophomore Damian Schuhmacher, Devaney, Hammett, and Adams finished second in the 4X100 with a time of :47.54. Hammett, Devaney, Adams, and freshman Lance Littleplume finished second in the 4X400 with a time of 3:49.64.

For the girls, freshman L'Tia Laurence had a big day winning the 1600 Meter Run in 5:53.20, while also capturing the 3200 Meter Run after completing the eight laps in 12:35.59. Laurence also qualified for the Northern B in the long jump with a third place finish, and the triple jump after finishing second.

Sophomore Haley Johnson will also represent the Wildcats at the Northern B finishing third in the shot put, as well as finishing third in the Javelin.
