Havre's Spring Community Cleanup Week was more than just cleaning streets, parks, or public spaces. It was about showing up for one another and for the place we all call home. Every individual, family, group, business, and organization that joined in, all played a part in something meaningful. The work accomplished was visible, but the deeper impact was felt in the connections made and the conversations shared along the way. Thank you for being part of something that matters. Coming together as...

I used to teach English to Korean kindergarteners in Seoul, South Korea. This was an immersive program, so the kids were only supposed to hear English during the day, which made it ok that I couldn’t speak Korean. But at the start of the school year, the kids couldn’t speak or understand any English, either. This became a problem when it was lunchtime, and seven different classes all came together at the bathrooms to wash hands before tromping to the cafeteria. It was chaos. Absolute chaos in the beginning of every year as dozens and doz...
You know, Lord, recently, having just read Psalms 16:11, “You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy”; we were reminded of that verse when we went in a ‘Fast Food Place’ where the gal at the counter saw a couple come in the door, behind us; she smiled and said, “Hi Joy – what are you having today, the same as last week?” They then spoke so quietly, no other words were heard. Then an older gal came through a backroom door, looked, smiled and also said, “Hi, Joy, nice to see you again this week! Jenny will take care...

I'd invited two neighboring women over for breakfast, loosely scheduled, of pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream,...
