    There's just under six weeks until the opening of the 2023 edition of the Blaine County Fair. Debbie Ramberg, Fair Manager, shared some recent changes this year that will make for a more secure overall facility and hopefully attract some new events to the fairgrounds arena in the future. A federal grant and funds raised by the Fair Board Foundation were used to finance the upgrades.     Three new staffers are now on board at the Chinook Senior Center. Candice Dunbar, Head Cook, joined the Center on May 28. The new Center Director, Ginger Hansen, and new Assistant Cook Karla Kennedy-Zarn, joined the staff on June 19. These paid staffers are supported by a number of volunteers who help in the kitchen and in other capacities at the Center.     This past week, June 26-29, Montana Actors’ Theatre (MAT) has been hosting a local KidsMAT youth summer camp in Chinook at Sweet Memorial Park. Additional camp opportunities for area adolescents will be available in Harlem or Havre from July 10-13. KidsMAT is a unique performing arts summer camp experience for children ages 5-15.     Dorvin "Midge" Leo Gruszie, passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2023 at her residence. She was 79 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by her death. Midge was born on April 7, 1944, to Frances and Pauline Leo in Zurich, Montana. Midge graduated from Chinook High School in 1962. She and Wesley started dating in 1964 and were married on July 10, 1965. They were married for 49 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
