In the afternoon of October 9, following Picture Day activities, School District #17 held Fire Prevention Week events. Students travelled from Cleveland and Bear Paw Schools to join the Zurich group in order to learn about fire safety, how to help prevent fires, and how to perform basic first aid. Richard Eldon Gilmore, 86, of Dodson, passed away in Billings, MT on October 2, 2025. Richard was born November 1, 1938 in Thompson Falls, MT to Eldon and Evelyn Gilmore. He graduated from Malta High School in 1957 going on to work for a short time at Philco Feeds. He was then drafted into the Armed Forces in 1961 serving in the Korean conflict during which time he received a letter of appreciation from his Commanding Officer. On September 30, the Chinook FFA held its Second Annual Milk River Fall Districts competition at the Blaine County Fairgrounds. Attended by eight Chapters from across the district, the event included Livestock Evaluation, Horse Evaluation, and Range.
