Major News this week is the upcoming District 9C Tournaments. Because of this, there will be NO school on Thursday so that everyone has the opportunity to go to support our basketball program in Havre at the Blue Pony gymnasium. One thing I keep hearing is that the Senior Center is for old people….No, it’s not!! It’s a place to come together and socialize with one another, no matter how old or young you are. Some come to socialize over coffee; some come to play games (cards\bingo) and socialize; and some come to get their socializing in over a bite to eat. IRENE STOUT was born on February 21, 1927 at the family home, which was 10 miles south of Climax, Sask. Canada. Irene has four son’s Paul, Dan, Wade and John. Irene was a teacher and farm wife. Irene has lived at the Center since February 10th, 2010. Another week has come and gone so quickly. Here we are already in February of 2020. The warmer weather has been a great treat. A lot of the ice and snow disappeared. Very thankful all the volunteers who have cooked on Saturday and Sunday. It’s been a great money maker for the Center. Our cook ended up sick for a few days. So, I cooked a couple days. Well this month has flown by just like last year. Rose Noel is once again going to be making soup on Saturday’s. The soup will be served from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. in the Dining Room. There will be a community meal, coronation, and float presentation at a public Pep Rally coming this Wednesday at the Turner School at 6:00 p.m. Come enjoy good food, watch the little ones pull floats that have been made by the Junior and Senior High School kids, see the Homecoming candidates and the coronation, and get them revved up at a Pep Rally. Third hat I wear is the Director for the Harlem Area Senior Citizen’s Center. I was hired by the board of the Senior Center. The Senior Center rents from Northern Montana Hospital the dining room area of the building. The dining room is where the Congregate Meals are held. The Dining room has been and can be rented out for a small fee. The use of the entire dining room and kitchen area rents out for $75.00. Use of the dining room or activity room is $10.00. Robert Kelley of Chinook has learned he has a Brain Tumor that needs to be removed. In order to do so he will have to travel to Seattle for surgery. The recovery process will take at least two months and in turn will not allow him the opportunity to work. Rob currently works three jobs and is the sole income provider for his family.
