Sweet Memorial Park in Chinook was a busy place last week as the local jump youth group helped put on a vacation bible school last Monday through Thursday. The Girl Scout house served as headquarters for the event which ran from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. daily. The school was an extremely popular event this past week, at its height 44 children attended the midday sessions headed up by 18 Junior High and High School and adult camp counselors. The Blaine County II Ambulance crew bid Don and Bonnie Harmon farewell this past Sunday at a retirement BBQ picnic at the Turner Park. The Harmon's have invested a lot of time and commitment into the Ambulance and its services over the years and the now the community will sorely miss their presence. Don was instrumental in getting the ambulance on the Big Flat dating back to 1974. In reminiscing back to that time, he recalls other ambulance personal who also played a big part in that mission....

This past Saturday Turner, Montana was the place to be if you were a car enthusiast as the 241 Grill and Tavern hosted their Second Annual Car and Tractor Show and Fly In. Visitors came from all over north central Montana and Canada to join in the fun. More than forty cars plus several bikes and tractors lined main street during the show. The eighth annual Blaine County Cruise has a full slate of events planned for the weekend as activities get underway Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. with registration taking place at the Blaine County Fairgrounds. Clifford the Big Red Dog was in Blaine County, first in Chinook at the library last week, then in Harlem earlier this week. Anyone who's watched children's programming on Public Television during the last half century, has likely seen "Clifford the Big Red Dog." Kiley Huravitch, of Chinook, was recently named a "top Cookie Entrepreneur" for the Girl Scouts bi-state council that includes both Montana and Wyoming (GSMW). As part of this year's celebration of the 100th anniversary of the iconic cookie sales program, GSMW named its 100 top cookie sellers and recognized them with a special patch.
