The Turner Tornadoes hosted the North Country Mavericks in a non-conference tilt on Tuesday, December 19th to close out the 2023 season. The young Tornado team struggled mightily against one of the top Class C teams. The Mavericks stormed out to a 29-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. A recent inspection found advanced spalling, cracking, and deterioration at the concrete beam ends in Span 1. Due to the severe conditions of the beam ends, the bridge can no longer carry traffic safely and reliably on the exterior beams. For public safety, traffic is restricted down to a single 12-foot lane centered on the bridge. Once the 12-foot centered lane is in place, any currently permitted overweight vehicles will be allowed to cross if the vehicle fits within the 12-foot restriction....
CGI donates to more than 30 charities benefiting local communities to “Cultivate Growth” and care this holiday season. This year, CGI's Amy Dunn in Chinook, Montana and her team are giving money to the Senior Center in Chinook since their state funding was cut this year. More specifically, CGI is sponsoring meals for senior citizens who can’t afford them and with the funds allotted should be able to sponsor 132 meals. Judge Perry Miller is resigning as Justice of the Peace for Blaine County effective December 31 of 2023. It's a post he's held for 29 years. He will also resign his positions as City Judge for both Harlem (13 years) and Chinook (20 years). Blaine County Library's Homeschool Hour students recently had their last session for 2023. Providing programs aimed at homeschool students, Homeschool Hour meets 1-2pm on Wednesdays. This year's Blaine County Fur Fest Coyote Hunt was sponsored for the first time by the Blaine County Fair Foundation. The event was held the first weekend of December and was deemed a huge success. A new holiday tree ornament honoring the memory of the airmen killed in a crash over Harlem more than 30 years ago is now available for the upcoming Christmas season. The Sonshine Community Church School visited the Sweet Home on Friday, December 1st. Singing Christmas carols and providing beautiful music for all the residents to enjoy. After they were done the kids helped serve the residents a snack. On average there are 20-25 kids that attend church school that is now held on Friday mornings at Wallner Hall.
