November 'Business After Hours' features local artists

November 11, 2015

The Chinook Area Chamber’s November Business After Hours will feature four local artists from the Chinook area. Business After Hours is a monthly meet and greet event that allows local business owners to showcase their products and services in a setting outside the normal business day. November’s event is being hosted by local artists Corey Couturier, Tomi Simenson, Ken Martin and Terri Meyer. Each artist will have a table with examples of their work for display and sale.

Corey Couturier, best known for his large, mural like paintings, said he was approached by the chamber and asked to host a Business After Hours event with an art theme. Couturier said, “After thinking about how such an event might look, I decided to invite several other artists. The idea of several artists and different types of art to display and sell seemed better than showcasing the work of only one person.”

Each artist will be displaying at least four larger works for sale. Couturier explained that the group didn’t want to overwhelm visitors so they set a limit to the number of large works for showing. He said each artist would also have smaller prints or other items for sale.

During the November event, guests will have a chance to meet the artists and view examples of their work. During the evening there will also be drawings for prints and other items the artists will be giving away. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will also be served. Couturier is hoping for live music during the evening but that was not totally finalized at press time. He said, “Live or recorded, there will be music.”

The November After Hours will be held on Thursday, November 12, at the Blaine County Library’s meeting room. The room is between the Chinook Senior Center and the library. Business After Hours runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and is open to the community. The monthly event is always an opportunity to learn about the community and the products and services available locally.
