Chinook Music Students Receive Top Honors at State Solo and Ensemble Festival in Helena

After a very successful District Solo and Ensemble Festival in Shelby, music students from Chinook High School moved onto State Solo and Ensemble Festival in Helena. Out of twelve songs presented, three received superior ratings, the highest honor given. The remaining nine songs received excellent ratings and were all just a few points away from receiving superiors themselves.

The following students received superior ratings: Travis Hamilton for his vocal solo, “Across the Western Ocean”; Elizabeth Hodgson for her violin solo, “Bouree”; Kyler Johnson for his vocal solo, “Cindy”.

The following students received excellent ratings: Blake Downs for his tuba solo, “Mussette”; Brooke Elliot for her saxophone solo, “Andantino”; Travis Hamilton and Alexis Warburton for their vocal duet, “The Moon”; Elizabeth Hodgson for her saxophone solo, “In My Life”; Rio Overcast and Alexis Warburton for their vocal duet, “Dark Brown is the River”; Kassidy and Kylie Popchoke for their vocal duet, “I will Follow”; Rochelle Chaffin, Nicole McCracken, Cerastina Nobles, Rio Overcast, Kassidy Popchoke, Kylie Popchoke, and Alexis Warburton for their vocal ensembles, “Dodi Li” and “Come in from the Firefly Darkness”; Travis Hamilton, Kyler Johnson, Chase Lenz, Garrett Lowham and Steven Mulonet for their vocal ensemble, “The Knight and the Dragon”.
