Chinook Area Chamber of Commerce holds monthly meeting, seeks input

February 15, 2017

On February 8th, 2017 at 6:08 P.M. the Chinook Area Chamber of Commerce had their regular monthly meeting at the Chamber office on Main Street. In attendance were: Robert Kelley, Heather DePriest, Frank Pehrson, Bonnie Weber, Sarah Pratt, Jennifer Hellman and guest Casey Overturff.

After a committee meeting for the License plate fundraiser we are excited to say that we have come up with a design and are awaiting approval on them from the state.

There has not been a Business After Hours event yet this year, but we plan on having the next few months filled. At our meeting we had a discussion on meeting times and it came up that maybe we could switch the Business After Hours event. After a bit of a discussion we have decided to move Business After Hours to the First Thursday of each month, and have our monthly Chamber meetings the 2nd Thursday of each month.

Banners for the highway and Main Street have arrived and we are awaiting anyone that would like to add your business name or In Memory of at the bottom of the banners. In Memory of sponsors will be charge $175.00 per five year period (they will need replacing after five years). Business/Organizations will be $100.00 per year. You can also email us at info@chinookmontana.com or call Jennifer at 406-945-7978 for more information or questions on this fundraiser.

Workshops Slated for this year include- Employment Laws, Basic and Advanced Quickbooks Classes, Google Course and Social Media. We will be doing these quarterly so be on the lookout for more information on this. Members of the Chamber are free to attend and non-members will be charged a small fee of $10.00 per class.

Sarah Pratt brought up a letter we had received in the mail about the St. Mary's Dam project. They are looking for funds to help out with the documentary that they need to make to present what needs to be fixed at the dam/canal. Total cost for this documentary is $41,000.00. Their goal is to make the public aware of the necessity of the Milk River and St. Mary's Dam. This was tabled to figure out our budget for the year, the cost is $1000.00 to help fund this project.

We will be continuing the dinner meetings for the next few months, if anyone is interested in attending. Again we would like to welcome you to any of our regular chamber meetings. Your memberships are very important to our community. Please take the time and check out our website for more information on becoming a member of your local Chamber of Commerce.
