Blaine County Democratic Vice-Chair Carol Elliot led a delegation of Blaine County Democrats on March 5 to the State Democratic Convention where Rob Quist from Creston was chosen as the party's nominee for the vacant congressional seat in Montana. A special election will be held on May 25 to replace Congressman Ryan Zinke who resigned to accept appointment as the US Secretary of Interior.

Joining Carol Elliot of Chinook at the convention were State Committeewoman Wendy Maratita of Harlem, State Committeeman Greg Jergeson of Chinook, and alternate State Committeeman Kyle Kuntz of Chinook. Also joining this group of delegates was Cody McCracken, a recent graduate of Chinook High School and current student at MSU-Billings who represented the Montana College Democrats.

"I had the distinct privilege to second Rob Quist's nomination," Jergeson stated, adding "Rob's work has taken him to every county in Montana where he has demonstrated enormous skills communicating with, listening to, and articulating the hopes and aspirations of Montanans, in communities small and large. We're excited about putting Blaine County in the win column for Rob."
