Sugarbeeters claim another Northern B/C Divisional crown, Harlem second

The Chinook Sugarbeeters are again champions of the Northern B/C Tennis world but this year the competition was much closer.
The Sugarbeeters won with 42 points while the Harlem Wildcats turned in their best performance ever, finishing second with 26 points.
The Sugarbeeters were victorious in both the singles and doubles competition and will send four girls to the State tournament in Missoula this weekend.
Junior Jamie Roth defeated Kendal Knapton 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) in the finale to win the singles competition. Roth won all three matches at the Northern B/C.
Junior Sierra Swank and junior Megan Pruttis are considered to be one of the top three or four teams in the state and proved so again over the weekend defeating the tandem of Jerika Temple/Brooke Woods from Chester-Joplin-Inverness 6-3,6-4 in the finals.
Senior Nicole McCracken will make a return trip to State B/C after finishing third in the singles bracket.
The Wildcats will send their first three athletes ever to the State B/C Tennis tournament this weekend in Missoula.

Harlem's Taeshon Shaeffer will advance to the State B/C after finishing fourth in Havre. The doubles team of senior Jazzamyn Benson and senior Kinsey Cornell finished third and will represent Harlem in Missoula.
The Wildcats tennis program is improving year to year and these three girls represent the first Harlem players in singles and doubles to quality for the state tournament.
The Sugarbeeters have dominated the ranks the past few seasons and this years trip to Missoula includes four girls with experience on the big stage.
Roth has been solid all season for the 'Beeters, "she has been our "steady eddie" all year long. She's always very consistent and works really hard," said head coach Thom MacLean.
The doubles team of Swank and Pruttis have been very successful and big things can be expected of them, "I was impressed with Swank and Pruttis in the finals. Tempel and Woods are seniors who have been playing together for years. They're skilled and aggressive so I was happy that Sierra and Megan could play well and pull out a win," concluded MacLean.
The State B/C will be in Missoula this Thursday through Saturday.
