The Blaine County Wildlife Museum is hosting a 'first viewing' of the recently completed Foothills Exhibit, the last major exhibit planned for the local facility. Kurt Wohnsen and Liz Marshall, pictured in the early stages of work on the new exhibit, have done all the major exhibits in the museum, beginning with the Buffalo Jump which they completed in 2001.

The public is invited to a preview of the recently completed Foothills Exhibit at the Blaine County Wildlife Museum on the evening of Thursday, June 1 from 7-9 pm. Museum Manager Tammy Edwards said the event is the opening day for the museum's summer season that runs through the end of August. She added, "There will be no charge for that evening and this will replace the regular free admission Saturday held each June."

Kurt Wohnsen and Liz Marshall, the owners and operators of Acorn Exhibits, will also be on hand to meet visitors and answer questions about the exhibit. Acorn Exhibits has done all the major displays in the museum beginning with the Buffalo Jump which was completed in 2001. The recently completed Foothills exhibit is the last major exhibit currently planned for the museum.

Edwards said two new mobile exhibits, with information about taxidermy and how animals in the museum are preserved, will also be on view. Wohnsen and Marshall, who built the two moveable displays, said the taxidermy exhibits were designed to answer the question so many visitors ask, "Are the animals real and how do you make them look so lifelike?"

The Acorn designers also hope to have some examples of the new signage that will be used on the exhibits in the museum. The couple have been working to create consistent and user-friendly signs for each exhibit that give helpful, educational information. The signage project is not yet completed.

Join the Wildlife Museum staff and board members, supporters and artists who created the exhibits for the first showing of the new Foothills Exhibit. Light refreshments will be served. The Wildlife Museum is at 417 Indiana in Chinook. Get more information about regular hours and admission at the museum's website: http://www.bcwildlifemuseum.com.
