Williams Sworn in as Blaine County Clerk and Recorder

Tammy Williams, center, was sworn in as Blaine County Clerk and Recorder Thursday afternoon. Joining Tammy in the photo are District Court Judge Perry Miller, outgoing Clerk and Recorder Sandi Boardman along with her daughter and grandchildren. Williams is surely familiar with the position as she has served as Deputy Clerk and Recorder for the past 23 years and has worked in the recorders office for 33 years.

Chinook resident Tammy Williams has served the public for 33 years and this past Thursday was sworn in as Blaine Counties next Clerk and Recorder. Williams will take over the position from Sandi Boardman who is retiring.

Williams took the Oath of Office from Judge Perry Miller in a small ceremony in the Blaine County Courthouse that included family, friends and coworkers.

Williams is a Chinook High School and Northern Montana College graduate and began her tenure serving the public 33 years ago. She first served as a clerk in the office and for the past 23 years has served as Blaine Counties Deputy Clerk and Recorder.

When Sandi Boardman announced she was retiring from the position after many years of service the Blaine County Commissioners immediately approached Williams about taking over the position, "I think with my experience, I will be able to take over for Sandi and keep things running smoothly for the public," said Williams.

The public can expect the same professional service from the office as Williams is looking for a smooth transition, "I am happy to be of service to the public and feel confident in ensuring the duties of the position are done at a professional level," concluded Williams.

The Clerk and Recorders Office is responsible for a number of tasks and according to the Blaine County website duties include:

The clerk and recorder duties are the ex-officio clerk of the county commissioners, ex-officio recorder, registrar for Blaine County, ex-officio election administrator and the administrator of the county budget.

Some of the documents that are recorded and filed for example are: deeds, mortgages, powers of attorney, military discharges, oil & gas leases, liens, certificates of surveys and subdivision plats. Certified and informational copies of birth and death certificates may be obtained from this office. Personnel and accounts payable are handled in this office. Most records are public record, but some are confidential. Federal, state, and county and city elections are handled by this office.
