KidsMAT Will Perform Snow White

July 10, 2019

Montana Actors Theater (MAT) invites Chinook youth, ages 5-15, to participate in KidsMAT, a unique theatre camp experience for younger children offered in Chinook from July 15-18 at Chinook High School’s Lloyd Sweet Auditorium located at 528 Ohio Street.

This one-week theater camp offers young people the chance not only to develop their creativity but to learn essential teamwork and leadership skills by allowing them to create their own stories, sets, and costumes. Each day will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. with a culminating performance occurring on Thursday at 7:00 in the evening.

Because space is limited, preregistration online is encouraged by visiting https://form.jotform.com/mtactors/kidsmat, but registration will also be available on the first day of camp. Registration fees include a water bottle and a t-shirt. Any families wishing to apply for a scholarship or seeking answers to any questions about the KidsMAT program should contact Jay at 406-945-0272.

Although children should bring a sack lunch each day, other snacks will be provided.

This year’s camp will be directed by MAT’s four summer interns: Rory Everingham and Austin Nelson from Havre, Kira Mills from Conrad, and Samantha Haan from Billings. Under their direction, campers will perform the scripted play, Snow White, instead of an original show written by the youth. Campers will, however, have the opportunity to create stories during the day.

The end of camp performance will be held at Chinook High School on July 18 at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend this free admission performance of Snow White.

MAT wishes to thank KidsMAT 2019 sponsors in Chinook: The Mint Bar, Moxley’s Excavation, and John Pike Construction for their support of this program. Additional sponsors include Dairy Queen, NorthWestern Energy, Triangle Communications, Town Pump, the Dennis & Phyllis Washington Foundation, Montana Arts Council, and National Endowment for the Arts.
