Rock Lotto 2018 during the Havre Festival Days.

MSU-Northern's campus radio station, KNMC 90.1FM, is seeking hi-line area musicians and vocalists of all skill levels to sign up for the 4th annual Rock Lotto, Saturday, September 21st during Havre Festival Days.

KNMC Rock Lotto is an event where local musicians put their name in a drawing to be randomly placed into bands for a one-time only performance. Musicians may sign up to play an instrument (guitar, bass, drums, keys, horns) or as a lead/backup vocalist. If a participant can play more than one instrument, they are encouraged to list their backup instrument in case too many signed up to play a particular instrument.

The deadline to signup is Wednesday, August 14th at noon. The band drawing will be held that evening during Sounds on the Square. Once the bands have been assembled, a subsequent drawing will be held to assign songs for each band to learn. Bands will have 5 weeks to rehearse for their performance. Last year, 35 Havre area musicians signed up to create 7 bands, which performed on the town square during the Festival Days celebration.

Before Havre had an annual Festival Days celebration, a music festival was held every May from the 1930s through the 1960s which brought regional bands to town to perform. KNMC seeks to honor that tradition by inviting musicians around the hi-line to join the fun by creating bands to perform at the Rock Lotto. If you live outside of Havre and would like to form a lotto band in your town, send an email to Dave Martens at martensdk@yahoo.com for details.
