Our Summer Reading Program has official ended. We had 87 kids register to participate and a total of 687 hours of reading logs were turned in. Cynnloch Gibson was the winner of the Alien Conquest LEGO Kit. Bridger Billmayer was the winner of the Space Shuttle LEGo kit, Space Explorer and Tin Can Robot. The Refractor Telescope winner was Charley Nissen and the NASA backpack winner was Ashton Kokkeler. Laura Danley was our top reader, so she will be the recipient of the after-hours pizza party. Congratulations to all the participants and the lucky prize winners. Thank you to all the parents and care givers for encouraging the kids to read all summer and those who helped with the Summer Reading Program.

We are excited to announce a special program coming in September. Tuesday September 10th Blaine County Library will be hosting Montana author Jamie Ford. Ford will be talking in Harlem on Monday evening and Havre on Wednesday evening. This is a great opportunity for our small communities! This is available to us through grant from Humanities Montana submitted by Colleen Brommer at the Harlem Library. We will have more information on this later in the month, but plan to attend. If you haven’t read any of Jamie’s books, we have them all available in both audio and book and I highly recommend them.

The library will have activities for kids from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 during the Sugarbeet Festival on Saturday September 14th. We will also be having a book sale during that time.

Are you planning a trip and thinking about ways to make the miles more tolerable? We have downloadable audio and eBooks available to our patrons with MontanaLibrary2Go. There are many books appropriate for the whole family. You need to download the Libby app to the device you will be using, this can be a phone, Kindle or laptop. You will need your library card number and an Internet connection to download the books. Once a book is downloaded, you don’t need an Internet connection to listen or read. Patrons have the title for 2 weeks and then it is automatically returned. Each library card can have 5 titles checked out at a time. More information and instructions are available on our website. If you need your library card number, just give us a call or come into the library. If you have problems, staff is available to walk you through the process.

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http:www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what’s going on!
