Turner Happenings

October 9, 2019

In last week's Journal you might have seen a photo of students at the Turner School searching the school playground for ladybugs. It was found that excessive ladybugs can mean either a sign of good luck, or a sign of a weather change. Well, it was 100% right about the weather change. Two days after finding over hundreds of ladybugs, winter showed up on the Big Flat. The children went from playing on the playground and collecting ladybugs to building snow forts. Snow amounts varied throughout the Big Flat, but right in Turner was well over a foot. Many tree limbs were broken with weight since they still had their fall foliage, but most were weighted down and then as it melted, popped back up. Pictured is the school ground before the children got to school Monday morning while the other photo shows a group of kiddos building snow bricks for a community fort on the playground. The children shown are back row L-R: Savannah Heilig, Piper Fox, Hannah Klindworth, Izzy Van Voast, Hannah Van Voast, and Gracie Zellmer. Front Row: Juliann Tomaskie-Hawley, Isaac Klindworth, Madalyn Billmayer, Harley Beck , and Alaina Egbert. By Sunday, most snow is basically gone. However in shaded spots we still have drifts remaining. By the sounds of the forecast, it may be coming again. Be ready for Old Man Winter!

The Turner Lutheran Church held its annual Fall dinner this past Sunday. A wonderful crowd came to enjoy turkey and all the trimmings with a variety of fruit and cream pies. It was a beautiful Fall day with our past snow storm in the rear view and everyone was more than eager to come share fellowship and have a great meal to kick off the Fall season.
