Tonight is the annual Friends of the Library Holiday Wine & Cheese fundraiser from 6:00-8:00 P.M. There will be delicious refreshments, door prizes, 50/50 raffle, silent and live auctions, and wine and beer tasting! The library will be open today from 10:00-1:00 to allow for set up. You may buy your tickets today for $10 at the library or call to reserve you tickets. You may also buy tickets at the door for $15. Kick off the holidays with this fun-filled event!

The library has a great selection of books for you to read this holiday season. Check out the Christmas Book Tree. New titles this year include “A Mrs. Miracle Christmas” by Debbie Macomber, “Here Comes Santa Paws” by Laurien Berenson, “The Christmas Boutique” by Jennifer Chiaverini, “A Christmas Haven” by Cindy Woodsmall, “Right Beside You” by Mary Monroe, “Christmas in Winter Hill” by Melody Carlson, “Thomas Kinkade’s Cape Light When Christmas Comes” by Katherine Spencer, “The Christmas Spirits on Tradd Street” by Karen White, “Let It Snow” by Nancy Thayer, and “Christmas Shopaholic” by Sophie Kinsella.

The Book Challenge for December is to reread your favorite book. You have only a few weeks left to complete the 2019 Reading Challenge to read at least 52 books this year. If you meet the goal let the library know and your name will be entered to win a fabulous gift basket including a $25 Visa gift card.

It’s the time of year to renew your Friends of the Library membership if you haven’t already done so. We are always looking for new members to join as well. Dues are $10 annually and may be paid at the library or sent to Valerie VanVoast, PO Box 172, Turner, MT 59542. The library is so grateful for the support of the Friends of the Library!

The Book Club will not meet during December. The next book may be picked up the last week in December and the first discussion will be January 6, 4 P.M.

The library is looking for ideas for programs. If you have a suggestion or request for a program topic or speaker please contact the library.

“The Girl Behind the Red Rope” is by Ted and Rachelle Decker. A terrible scourge is unleased on the world and Grace and her religious community are hidden deep in the Tennessee hills. There they must stay behind the red rope following every rule to keep safe, pure and alive. But Grace’s older brother’s questions and the arrival of the first outsiders she has seen in ten years cause her to question everything she has built her life on.

Two new nonfiction selections are “Inside Montana Politics: A Reporter’s View from the Trenches” by Montana investigative and government reporter Mike Dennison; and “She Said” by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey. This work reveals the sexual harassment story that help ignite a movement.

Lisa Unger is the author of “The Stranger Inside.” When Rain Winter was twelve she nearly escaped an abductor who did take her friends Tess and Hank. After years in prison the abductor was released only to be murdered in cold blood. Now Rain is a stay-at-home mom in suburbia. When another murderer is found dead, Rain is drawn into the case. Similarities to the first case force her to revisit memories she thought she had left behind.

Rose Dennis wakes up in an Alzheimer’s unit in a nursing home with no memory of how she got there. Overhearing a conversation that says she will not make it through the week, Rose devises a plan of escape. She hides in her now-abandoned house to figure out her next move. But how does she convince anyone she’s not actually demented? Don’t miss Nevada Barr’s “What Rose Forgot.”

Bring your children to the library during this holiday season. The children’s area has a great selection of Christmas books, toys and games, as well as a special holiday activity table.
