Harlem Civic Association to Hold Fundraiser

February 26, 2020

March Madness, the moniker given to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments, captures the concentrated hype from the second week of March through the first week of April when 68 teams vie for college basketball's biggest prize in a single-elimination tournament: the national championship.

On Selection Sunday, March 15, the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee will reveal which teams have made the field for this year's basketball championships and then release the seeding and the bracket for seven rounds of tournament action. The 2020 NCAA championship game will be played on Monday, April 6, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Following Selection Sunday, the Harlem Civic Association will get in on the March Madness phenomenon with their March Madness fundraiser at Kennedy’s Bar located at 66 Main Street South in Harlem. The festivities will begin on March 16 at 6:00 when a free supper will be served.

Bidding will begin at 7:00 p.m. when all 68 NCAA Men’s Tournament teams will be auctioned off to the highest bidder in a Calcutta style auction. Thirty-two teams will be paid from the proceeds, and everyone is invited to participate. For more information, interested persons may call 406-262-5448.

This is a fundraiser for the Harlem Civic Association. The organization’s mission is to support non-profit activities that will promote the improvement of the community of Harlem. Anyone can seek a membership. Civic meetings occur the third Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Harlem Library Meeting Room.
