Loaves & Fishes Celebrates Nine Wonderful Years of Faithful Ministry

March 4, 2020

To the community, congregations, supporters, and families:

First of all, we would like to celebrate nine wonderful years of faithful ministry to this community through Loaves and Fishes. In our mission of “making a difference one meal at a time,” we have served 9,200 meals and our volunteers have provided 6,480+ hours of their time in dedication to our community. We have also received the Celebrate Mental Health Award in “recognition of valuable and long-lasting contributions to the stability and reliability of community relationships.” Loaves and Fishes has provided nourishment of the body, mind, and spirit to numerous youth in Blaine County.

As a board, we have been discerning the future of our ministry. Regrettably, Loaves and Fishes will be disbanded, effective this summer. We have been facing decreased participation from families, not enough volunteers to keep it running effectively, and a tight budget over the last several summers.

Although this is the end of Loaves and Fishes as it has been, the board members are excited to see where God leads us in the future. Over the years, we have developed strong ecumenical partnerships that we want to maintain as we serve God in Chinook. We will be listening to and discerning the needs of our community as we strive to make God’s love known here.

Lastly, we just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has participated in this ministry over almost a decade of serving children in our community – to those who cooked meals, donated food and money, led activities and special presentations, came to share in food and fellowship, and the families who entrusted us with their children, we could not have done it without you!

In Christ’s Service –
