Harlem Golf Course will survive COVID-19

March 25, 2020

olf Course,

Harlem Golf Course Board of Directors is optimistic for the future of our golf course. We would like to thank all individuals and organizations for their donations and support that helped erase a $10,000.00 shortfall of funds needed to pay expenses for 2019. With a sigh of relief we ended the year in the black.

Austin and Taylor Richardson are working with D-6 Guns in Havre to sell 32 guns in 30 days. Limited to 500 tickets. A group of Ft. Belknap golfers pitched in and sponsored a trip to Las Vegas that raised $3,450.00 for Harlem Golf Course. A monthly 50/50 cash draw raffle has been established. In addition Ralph’s Guns rifle raffle is on display with tickets for sale. Check out the various fund raisers and purchase tickets at Richman Insurance.

Lyle Faulkinberry will be in charge of a “progressive cash drawing” that will have only 200 tickets sold with a top prize of $1,000.00 at our spring golf banquet.

Due to circumstances beyond our control our golf banquet has been rescheduled to Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the Milk River Community Center, formerly VFW club in Harlem. The banquet will feature raffles, auctions and a door prize for an individual membership. (Need not be present to win.) 1st raffle will be at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at 7. Individuals or businesses that are interested in making a donation may contact Richman Insurance (406-353-2213) or any board member. Our banquet will feature a roast pork dinner with all the trimmings, Kevin Elias as auctioneer and our own Don Richman as MC. Banquet tickets can be purchased from Richman Insurance. Please buy your tickets in advance so we can plan appropriately. Come join us for a fun filled evening.

With the unanticipated event of COVID19 we will be starting our golf season May 1st without having the benefit of “startup money” in the amount of $10,000.00 to $12,000.00 normally generated from our Spring Banquet which has been postponed until mid-June. We will however have anticipated expenses of $10,000.00 which include Property taxes of $1,771.83 due in May and a bank loan payment of $3,972.32 due in June as-well-as maintenance expenses to operate Harlem Golf Course. It is important that members pay their membership and cart storage fees and non-members pay golfing fees as they golf.

Speaking of our golf course, our greens keepers will be Lyle + Kim Faulkinberry with Austin Richardson as helper and Darius Longknife as a part-time maintenance person. If you would like to volunteer check with our greens keepers they don’t mind a helping hand.

WE NEED THE CONTINUED COMMITMENT AND SUPPORT FROM THE COMMUNITY TO CONTINUE OUR GOLF COURSE IN HARLEM.
