Harlem Elementary School District wishes to recognize ROARing Teachers of the Month. Every month teachers are nominated by their peers for acts of inspiration, and those nominated will then have their names put into a spinning wheel style drawing and selected at random.

"Although we've been busy, we wanted to show our appreciation for our hardworking teachers," Harlem Elementary School Principal Shiloh Seymour stated.

For the month of September, Harlem Elementary selected kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Jenna Kittson, and sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Alicia Noel, as ROARing teachers of the month.

"These two have gone above and beyond, not only as classroom instructors, but they have also been an integral part in launching our online learning procedures," Seymour said.

For October, first grade teacher, Mrs. Sherri Pronto, and 5th/6th grade Special Education Instructor, Mrs. Magnolia McCann, were selected as ROARing Teachers.

"Mrs. Pronto and Mrs. McCann have shown the resilience and fortitude that this very challenging school year has so far presented," Seymour explained.

For their efforts, each winning educator received a gift certificate to Subway as a token of thanks from everyone at Harlem Elementary.

"This small gift card will enable them to go have a treat in appreciation for their work," Seymour said. "At Harlem Elementary, we believe it is everyone's responsibility to empower children with the creative, intellectual, and decision-making skills necessary for them to become academically, socially, physically, and emotionally successful and responsible. These teachers are doing exactly that."

The tradition of selecting distinguished educators occurs every month at Harlem Elementary School. One teacher will be selected from kindergarten through third grade and another from the fourth through the sixth grade.
