Lady Cats fall in Overtime

January 19, 2022

Lady Cat sophomore Emma Billmayer has been a great addition to the team this year. Billmayer transferred to Harlem from Turner.

The Harlem Lady Cats were in Glasgow Friday night looking to even their conference mark against the Scotties. Harlem met the challenge for 32 minutes of regulation, but fell in overtime, 62-57. Saturday the Lady Cats were hoping to be back in front of the hometown fans and welcome the District 9C Box Elder Bears to town. In a schedule change due to last minute circumstances the game with the Bears had been canceled.

Harlem started strong and looked to be in control early on, leading 15-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Scotties stormed back before the break with a 19-10 run to lead the Lady Cats 27-25 at the intermission.

Senior Taya Trottier scored seven third quarter points and sophomore Emma Billmayer connected from distance to help the Lady Cats keep pace.

The teams began the fourth with Glasgow clinging to a 41-40 advantage. Trottier and senior Chloe Messerly were clutch at the charity strip down the stretch converting on six of six between the two. The Lady Cats evened the contest at 50-50 to force the game to be decided in overtime.

Glasgow took the lead early in the extra session and the Lady Cats were never able to draw even as time ran out in a tough 62-57 road loss to the Scotties.

Trottier led the Lady Cat attack with 17 points in the contest. Messerly finished with 11 and Billmayer nine.

Harlem will be on the road this week with games in Malta on Thursday and Poplar Saturday afternoon.
