Hello God, it's me, Mara

You know Lord, it was precious to see a gentleman help a young lady gather her two little kids and help them into church while she carried a baby. He helped them cross the parking lot, helped keep them together, while their Daddy parked the car. The gentleman asked the little girl where she was going; she said, “…to church and Sunday school, ‘cause teacher is going to tell us how to Shine for Jesus.” He smiled, took her hand, as she was headed in the wrong direction; Mama smiled. Then Daddy arrived, picked up their little boy, and thanked his friend, ‘Joe’, for helping out. That was special; as others weren’t near enough to help this young family.

Then at the Post Office, an ‘aisle’ away, a young chap watched for a moment as an older lady grappled with a large box. He said, “I’m Bill, could I help you carry that box?” She smiled as he reached for the large package. She thanked him, stepped to open the door, then walked to her car. He put the box in; they chatted a moment, he smiled as he walked to his car. That was special.

At the grocery store a young gal watched for a moment as an elderly man tried to arrange grocery sacks to carry out. She paused a moment, then asked him if she could help him, since she was headed out the store. He looked at her in surprise, smiled and thanked her. They walked out of view, not sure how they carried the 4 sacks, but we were pleased to find a young gal willing to help.

Doing good deeds helps shine for the Lord; every day we have the opportunity to be the light that outshines the darkness in someone’s life. Psalm 36:9: “For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.”

Love, Mara
