Alec Robert Urquhart, 74, formerly of Harlem, MT died peacefully on January 2, 2023 in Colorado Springs, CO after battling cancer.

Alec was born December 21, 1948 in Portland, OR. Affectionately known as "Pete" by many, Alec spent his childhood at the family place near Savoy. He was the eldest son of Irvin and Jean Getten. Alec attended grades 1-4 at the Savoy school and finished his education in Harlem, graduating in 1966. He enjoyed class reunions and catching up with his many special friends whenever he came home to Montana. He proudly served eight years in the U.S. Army, including time in Vietnam and Korea. While in the army, Alec met and married Maria Tellez. They later divorced.

Alec married Helen Lesher on December 21, 1974 and became a stepfather to Lonn Moore. He joked that they married on his birthday so he would never forget their anniversary. Truth be told, Alec rarely forgot anyone's anniversary or birthday. He was very thoughtful and the first to call or text to celebrate the special days of his family members.

Alec and Helen were at home in Colorado Springs where he made a career at Boddington Lumber. He was highly respected for his expertise in the window industry as well as his outstanding work ethic. HIs hobbies included trap shooting, traveling in the RV with Helen and their dogs, leatherwork, and various other creative endeavors.

Alec was an amazing husband to Helen and became her loving caretaker until her death in 2019. In his later years, Alec reunited with his first wife Maria. They enjoyed their time together and were remarried October 18, 2022.

Alec will be fondly remembered by many. He loved a friendly game of cards, Camel cigarettes, Jim Beam, and telling a good story. His contagious laughter will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Alec is survived by his wife Maria of Colorado Springs, stepson Lonn of Arizona, special aunt and uncle Christine and Bob Tolbert of Kalispell, brother Hugh (Patty) Getten of Harlem, sisters Ruth Ann (Perry) Brown of Harlem and Becky (Perry) Soldiers of New Plymouth, Idaho, several nieces and nephews, and many friends and co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Urquhart, parents Irvin and Jean Getten, brothers Charlie, Jack, Frank, and James Getten, and sister Rita Getten.

At Alec's request there are no funeral services planned. The family will scatter his ashes on Powell Hill at a later date.
