The Turner Tornadoes hosted the Box Elder Bears this past Tuesday in their first contest of the new year. Turner has been steadily improving since day one and gave the Bears all they could handle in a hard fought 57-52 set back.

Turner started a little slow against the Bears, trailing 13-5 after eight minutes of action. Freshman Bridget Reed provided a boost in quarter number two, draining a long three and scoring seven points in the quarter. Sophomore Cassidy Grabofsky added a triple and five points to help the Tornadoes stay close heading into the break.

The Bears led 25-16 to start the third quarter. Senior Dakota Krass connected twice from distance and scored eight third quarter points to keep Turner in reach trailing 42-31 heading into the fourth.

Reed went to work in the final stanza scoring 13 points to help the Tornadoes claw their way back into the contest. Time was running out and their rally came up a little short. Box Elder secured a 57-52 win over the Tornadoes.

Reed led the way for the Tornado attack, scoring 24 points in the contest. Krass added 11 points to the Turner effort and eighth grader Ali Doyle chipped in six.
