Glacier Nurse+Direct Presentation Has Great Turnout

April 26, 2023

Approximately 40 people were present at the Blaine County Library on April 13th for town hall questions and answers regarding Glacier Nurse Direct and the services they could provide to residents of Chinook and surrounding areas. Both Kristy (Johnson) Naylor RN,1992 graduate of Chinook High School and Marcy Kleinjan RN hailing from Sidney MT were present for the meeting and shared their hopes of being able to give back and be of service to small town rural Montana. The discussion reviewed topics such as differences between home health and private home care, the rapidly growing aging population of northern and eastern Montana counties and the limited in-home care and costs of services available to rural areas. Their hope is to be able to fill the gaps in care when patient needs extend beyond what traditional insurance, Medicare and Medicaid doesn't cover and to put the patient back in the driver's seat of choosing care that they want and need rather than insurance companies. "We were surprised by the amount of people that came and are in need of or interested in having this kind of service available to them. Folks asked really good questions. People in the area are thinking about this kind of "aging in place and longer term" kind of care and a number in the audience have long term care insurance in place, and that tells us that people are thinking ahead and making plans and that's very smart," Naylor and Kleinjan reported.

One attendee said: "I would be very interested in looking into their services, it's such a needed thing here." GND services are private pay, meaning insurance doesn't cover the cost, but "you can't put a price tag on that kind of care, if it's needed you figure out a way to cover the cost," said the same attendee.

In order to do this, stay fiscally solvent and be able to open a North Central branch of Glacier Nurse Direct, Naylor and Kleinjan need firm commitments from folks in the area that would be accessing their services, so they have the ability to begin building a trusted, solid local team of nurses and CNA's to provide the needed care. "Our goal is not to replace the care that is already here but to supplement it and work with other care providers in the area and deliver an exceptional, professional service that will improve patient outcomes and overall quality of life." Naylor said.

If you are interested Marcy and Kristy urge you to visit their website at glaciernursedirect.org, go to forms and fill out the intake form for nursing services. This can be for memberships, private duty RN and CNA care, IV hydration and vitamin therapy and injectables, post surgical and after hospital care, and chronic disease management just to name a few. There is no obligation to do this and it will give them information needed to be able to proceed forward. Pricing is listed on their web page and you can message them directly there as well.
