Chinook Golfers Compete in Great Falls, Shelby and Conrad Cancelled Due to Weather

April 26, 2023

Senior Daniel MacLeod was able to hit the links for the first time this season. MacLeod shot a 120 in Great Falls.

Monday, the Sugarbeeter Golf Team found green at the Meadowlark Golf and Country in Great Falls. Per head coach Nick Turner, the team had a good tournament overall and got some much-needed time on the links.

Senior Morgan Friede was the lone girl participating, and she took home the highest place for the Sugarbeeters, shooting 113 to finish in 8th place.

Senior Ryan Meneely led the way for the boys with a score of 110 to finish in 18th place.

Senior Morgan Friede continues to shine for the Beeters on the links. She placed 8th with a score of 113.

Due to the long snowy spring, Senior Daniel MacLeod and sophomores Lance Pitkanen and Brockton Elliot finally got their first action of the season. MacLeod and Elliot each completed the course with a score of 120, while Pitkanen followed with a 132.

Weather canceled two additional opportunities to play in Shelby and Conrad. The team competed in Fort Benton on Monday. Full results from that event will follow in the next edition.

With limited time on the greens, the squad is still looking for those state qualifying scores. The automatic qualifier for the girls is 100, and for the boys, it's 85. There are several more chances as the golfers will take their shots in Fort Benton and Malta before closing out the regular season on the home course in Chinook.

The Eastern C Divisional will take place in Laurel on May 8th, with the top 25 individuals and the top five teams advancing to State C in Great Falls, May 15-17th.
