Harlem Advances to Northern B
Home was certainly where the heart was for the Chinook volleyball team.
The Sugarbeeters hosted the District 1B Tournament last weekend, where the Beeters reached the championship match before falling to Choteau in four games. The second-place finish advanced the Beeters to this weekend's Northern B Divisional Tournament, where they'll try to reach the state tourney next week in Bozeman.
Chinook opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over Cut Bank last Thursday, then the Beeters beat Fairfield in a five-game thriller to reach the undefeated semifinals. Chinook lost that match Friday night to Choteau, but on Saturday, the Beeters once again outlasted Fairfield in a five-setter to reach the championship match. Choteau was just too tough for the Beeters yet again, but it was still a successful weekend for Chinook, and the Beeters' season continues.
Chinook, Choteau, Fairfield, and Shelby all advanced to this weekend's Northern B. Joining the Beeters will be the Harlem Wildcats, who placed third at last weekend's 2B Tournament in Wolf Point.
Harlem opened the tournament with a 3-1 win over Wolf Point last Thursday before falling to Fairview 3-1 in the second round. The Wildcats battled back with a 3-2 win over Poplar and a 3-1 win over Glasgow in the fourth-place match. The Wildcats fell to eventual champion Malta in the third-place match, but they still join the M-Ettes, Fairview, and Glasgow at this weekend's divisional tournament.
