Lacey Marie Pitkanen, 42, passed away on December 29, 2025, in Billings, Montana.
She was born on April 14, 1983, in Havre, Montana, to Rance Pitkanen and Karen Pronto. Lacey had a beautiful way of always looking on the bright side of life. She was often laughing and making others laugh, and her contagious laugh could instantly make everything feel lighter. It is a sound that will be missed beyond words.
Lacey was a devoted and loving mother, a wonderful sibling, a proud aunty, and a true friend. Being with Lacey made you feel safe. She had a way of helping you forget whatever was wrong, even if just for a moment, simply by being herself.
She was the “cool aunty” everyone wanted — fun, loving, and always present. As a mom, she loved deeply and showed up fully for her children. As a friend, she was loyal, caring, and always there when you needed her most. Lacey was incredibly selfless, always thinking of others and putting herself last.
Creative and crafty, Lacey loved to bedazzle just about everything and enjoyed all kinds of crafts, including yarn art for a time. She also loved thrift shopping, especially trips to Ross and Goodwill, finding joy in the simple things and little treasures. Her kindness, creativity, laughter, and big heart touched so many lives.
Lacey is survived by her children, Shauntay Stiffarm, Shimmering Stiffarm, Jesiah Johnson, and Elijah Bell; Justin Johnson whom she loved deeply; her siblings, Lance Pitkanen, Loren Pitkanen, and Lecia Pronto; her parents, Rance Pitkanen and Karen Pronto; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandpa, Leonard Pronto; her grandma Dumps; and her cousin, Shawn Gilbert.
Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church in Fort Belknap at 11:00 a.m., with Jeremy Bourne officiating, followed by graveside services at 1:30 p.m. Food and fellowship followed back at the church.
Lacey will be remembered as a loving mother, a caring sibling, the aunty everyone adored, and a light in the lives of all who knew her. She was a true ride-or-die to all her homies, loyal to the core, and fiercely loving. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
