The Class B basketball postseason has arrived for the Chinook and Harlem boys and girls basketball teams.
This weekend in Cut Bank, the Sugarbeeters will compete in the District 1B Tournament, where four spots at divisionals will be on the line.
The Chinook boys take on Conrad in the first round of the 1B boys tournament. Chinook finished 7-7 in the 1B and 7-11 overall and have had a week of rest. Fairfield is the top seed in the boys tournament and will face Shelby, while Fort Benton is the No. 2 seed and battles Cut Bank. Chinook is the No. 4 seed, and Choteau is the No. 3 seed. Choteau faces Rocky Boy in the first round.
Meanwhile, the Chinook girls will look to make a run this weekend in Cut Bank after a tough regular season. The Sugarbeeters finished 4-10 in the 1B and 5-13 overall. Chinook will be the No. 5 seed in the 1B tourney and face Choteau, the No. 4 seed. Shelby is the No. 2 seed and plays Cut Bank, while Fort Benton is the No. 3 seed and plays Rocky Boy in the first round.
The District 1B boys and girls tournaments run through Saturday night in Cut Bank, with the top four teams advancing to the Northern B Divisional Tournament.
The District 2B Tournament will also be held this weekend in Malta, and the Harlem boys come in as a strong favorite. The Wildcats will be the No. 2 seed and play Fairview in the first round. Malta is the No. 1 seed and has a bye, while Glasgow is the No. 3 seed and faces Wolf Point, and Poplar is the No. 4 seed and squares off against Plentywood.
The Harlem girls struggled this winter but can still make a run this postseason. In the 2B girls tournament, Glasgow is the No. 1 seed and has a bye, while Malta is the No. 2 seed and faces Plentywood. Poplar is the No. 3 seed and takes on Wolf Point, while Harlem is the No. 5 seed and battles Fairview.
The 2B Tournament runs through Saturday night in Malta, where the top four teams from the boys and girls tournaments will join the top four teams from the 1B at the Northern B, March 4-7 in Shelby.
