Jack was born on August 13, 1944, in Rugby, ND, to Raymond and Bertha (McMaster) Lazier. He lived in ND until 1952, when the family relocated to the Havre area. Jack attended school and worked on the ranch with his family and tinkered on cars, a hobby that would last throughout his life. On March 28, 1965, he married Judy Houim, and the couple moved to MN & later returned to Havre to raise their 2 daughters. There, Jack worked for the railroad as a laborer for 38 years, retiring in 2003.
When the children were younger, Jack and Judy took them camping regularly, but as they grew, Jack began drag racing. He built the cars and maintained them, with Judy acting as his "pit boss". He also loved chewing the fat with his friends while drinking a cold Ranier.
