Ryan Bell wins Wolf Point Invite
Cancellations were part of the story once again last week for many area spring sports teams. However, both the Chinook golf teams and girls tennis team did get some competition in last Saturday.
The Chinook golfers visited Wolf Point last Saturday for the Wolf Point Invitational at the Airport Golf Club. The Chinook boys placed sixth out of 10 teams with a team total of 413. Just ahead of the Sugarbeeters was Harlem, which finished fifth with a 375. The tournament featured a host of Class B stalwarts, including Malta, Shelby and Conrad, as well as Glasgow. The tournament was a huge success for Chinook's Ryan Bell, who shot a 78 to win the boys tournament by four strokes.
On the girls side, Chinook didn't have enough players to complete a team score, but the Beeters did have some strong golfers individually, in the tournament that was won by Shelby.
Chinook was also scheduled to compete at the Meadowlark Invite in Great Falls last week, as well as the Sunburst Invitational in Shelby. This week's schedule includes the Rocky Boy Invitational held at Prairie Farms in Havre on Wednesday and the Shelby Invite at Marias Valley on Friday, as well as the Malta Invite on Saturday.
In high school tennis last week, the Sugarbeeters had matches with Conrad and Choteau cancelled, but the Beeters were able to compete at the Central Division Meet in Havre last Saturday. This weekend, the Beeters are hoping to compete at a meet in Great Falls.
