Hello From the
Chinook Senior Center
Remember to fill out your ballots and get them in before the deadline! Our voices count to move our schools forward.
Our 3rd Annual Mother's Day Brunch will be held this Saturday, May 9th. This, as always, is by reservation only. We ask that no children under the age of 18 attend, and since this is for ladies, no men, please. I know how hard mothers work, because I am a mother! Our work is never truly done. There is always another load of laundry, a meal to cook or dishes to do. Where would the world be without Mothers?!
We, in our little community, have always delighted in sharing May Day baskets and this year was no exception. Today, I asked a 23 year old young man what he knew about May Day Baskets. He stated that he had never heard of them. YIKES! We must work harder to keep these wonderful traditions alive. Too many things that brought delight to generations before are being lost. We hope that you join us next year for our basket making day!
We have been blessed to have the Mobile Memory Café from Montana State University, Extension, take the time to travel to our community and share the valuable information of raising awareness & providing essential resources for families, caregivers and adults experiencing memory loss and dementia. This is impacting many of our lives and will continue to do so. Gaining any knowledge that we can help makes us more able to cope with these changes in the lives of people that we love.
We have so many opportunities here at our wonderful Chinook Senior Center to join us for numerous activities. If you have something that you enjoy doing and would like to share your ideas with us please reach out and ask if this is something that we can be a part of here.
Saturday, May 16th @ 11:30 a Memorial Service for Pearl Reed will be held here, at our Center.
Saturday, June 20th from 1:00 - 5:00 Connie & Jesse Murphy will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, here at our wonderful Center.
Saturday, July 4th there will be a wonderful celebration of our 250th year of ONE NATION UNDER GOD, hosted by the Chinook Chamber of Commerce, from 5:00-10:00 at the Blaine County Fairgrounds, Commercial Building. There will be numerous games and activities for all ages! I am so delighted to see that our Chamber is recognizing this momentous occasion! Red, White and Blue is the theme!! YAY, CHINOOK CHAMBER! GREAT JOB!!
The Chinook Chamber of Commerce is also in the process of selling tickets for "Sticks & Stones". This means that Sticks are golf clubs and Stones are diamonds! The Sticks will be drawn at the 4th of July celebration and the Stones will be drawn at the Parade of Lights, the day after Thanksgiving. Support is always appreciated! This allows the Chamber to continue their works of good within our community!
If you review our menu, you will also note that there are many activities noted on each weekday. Please call and join us for some of these! Remember that socialization is paramount to mental health.

The fabulous fellows at the Mint Bar (Bryce Weinheimer)...and very possibly Kevin Elias, generously donated their March Madness Calcutta dollars to our wonderful Chinook Senior Center!
This group of community minded fellows always look out for our non-profit. When you see these fellows out and about (or stop in and have a beer with them)....give them a huge high five! Humanity at it's best.
Hooray and may God bless you also!
