    Spring is here, bringing with it the time for spring clean-up. Recently the Harlem Civic Association sponsored a clean-up day for the town. Harlem High School’s track team did a great job cleaning under very windy conditions on the scheduled day. Two days later, when the weather was more cooperative, other Harlemites also worked cleaning up paper and trash. The Civic Association then picked up the bags of garbage. Blue Ribbon Winners were: Adult - White Bread-Aschlea Schroder, 100% whole wheat bread-Amanda Powell, Machine White bread-Brittany Dawson, Machine Combo bread-Kristi Warburton, Specialty bread-Sharon Reed.   • Montana Seed Show Bread Winners Announced

    The 2023 Montana Seed Show will be remembered as a very snowy, travel-stopping event. However, many areas, including the bread show, had a good number of entries. The breads were quite tasty. Patty Quisno, Harlem, was the overall winner with her white bread entry. She was also the blue ribbon winner with her 100% whole wheat bread and placed second with her specialty bread.     Harlem’s Montana Seed Show will be held March 12-14 at Harlem High School. We would like to encourage the 4-H’ers in your county to enter the bread contest. There is a youth division (high school seniors and younger) with prizes in each category. Categories are: White bread, 100% whole wheat bread, machine white , machine 50% combination whole wheat, and specialty yeast bread. Entry day is Friday, March 13, 8-9:30 AM at the school’s big gym.     From “Jingle Bells” to “Angels We Have Heard on High” to “O Holy Night”, St. Thomas Catholic Church in Harlem will be celebrating Christmas time in a variety of ways. Beginning the season, the annual Christmas Bazaar will be held on Sunday, December 3, at New Horizons starting at 10 A.M.     Something new is being planned for Harlem’s Country Christmas—a Country Christmas Party! This event will be held Sunday, December 10, at the VFW Club, and all ages are invited. Vendors and games are encouraged to kick off the party starting at 3 P.M. From 4-6:30 a chili cook-off will be held with $200 going to the first place prize winner and $100 to the second place winner!     The fall season is here, and with it comes Harlem’s Fall Festival. The event will begin with the Harlem Hunger Walk starting at 2 PM; entry forms for this 5K walk are available at Richman Insurance (forms have all the needed information). The walk proceeds will benefit the Harlem food pantry. All are invited to the potluck picnic to be held in City Park at 4 PM; sloppy joes and lemonade will be provided.
