The Sophomore class will be holding a Saint Patrick’s Day supper at the Turner Lutheran Church this Sunday, Mar. 17th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. On the menu will be Corned Beef and Cabbage, baked potatoes, buns, salad, and dessert. The Turner community gathered at the school gymnasium for a Community Pep Rally this past week to send both boys and girls teams off to tournament. Both coaches spoke to the crowd about each player and how they had grown throughout the season. A tribute was done to the Seniors, and a few fun games, chants and the school song was sung. Tom and Lucy Fairbank enjoyed attending tournament action this past weekend in Havre. Bill and Mary Hake enjoyed watching the tournament play on the NFHS website throughout the tournament. Due to cold it was a great opportunity for many folks to stay at home and still be in touch with all the happenings at the District Tournament. A few weeks ago, my 5-year old son was playing with a girl from his class. I gave them snacks, a plate of chips each. My boy eyed up the plates and went to grab the one that appeared to be larger. I stopped him and asked if he was forgetting something. Homecoming 2019 was presented this Saturday at the Turner Tornado gymnasium with visiting teams, The Chinook Sugarbeeters meeting up. Grades 7-12 showcased their miniature floats decorated up with youngsters pulling them around the gym. The audience showed recognition of what they felt was the winning float by applause. The Turner School held its local Geography Bee this past week in the school gymnasium. Grades 4-8 competed for nearly two hours to come to the top three winners. Nearly 10,000 schools across the United States will compete in the 2019 National Geographic GeoBee for a chance to win college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic GeoBee Champion. Ooo boy! It snowed. I was sure it was not deep enough to wear my snow boots to walk to work, I was very wrong. I should have worn my snowshoes.
