Word has been received of the death of Janice Hendrickson-Frank. She grew up on the Big Flat and moved away later in her life. She passed away this week. She leaves behind a son and two daughters. The Turner High School celebrated their 2016 Homecoming this past week. During spirit week, each day was designated to do something fun and unique throughout the school. The St. Mary Rehabilitation Working Group met on January 12, 2016 in Havre to discuss the their upcoming meeting with their water firm, Water Strategies, and hear updates on maintenance work being performed by the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR). Turner Students recently had a poetry contest in their English classes. They competed to earn a spot in the "school" competition that was held this past Thursday in the Turner Art Room of the school. Six individuals and one class participated in the competition. Three students were declared winners at the Turner School in the local Geographic Bee held this week. Shay Humphreys was declared the winner, while second place went to Chantry Jorgenson and third to Shane Kimmel. Humphreys won the school competition of the National Geographic Bee and a chance at a $50.000 college scholarship.
