    In a year like no other, it was even more important to organizers of the Chinook Community Thanksgiving Dinner for the event to continue. "We really didn't want to let it go. We felt like if you skip a year it's really hard to get it started again," said Betty Billmayer. Their efforts were extremely appreciated as the total number of meals served exceed previous years.   • Re-Imagining Rural 2020 Grants Awarded

    The Re-Imagining Rural gathering that occurred in September and October 2020 on a virtual platform was reported a success. As an incentive to capitalize on what they learned during these sessions, representatives from community foundations and other public entities were invited to submit grant applications for funding. Two local entities receiving grants are MSU Blaine County Extension and Fort Belknap Community Economic Development Corporation.     Carol Johnsrud, of Chinook, wanted to share a Thanksgiving greeting with friends. A retired nurse she wanted to keep everyone safe but still personalize the greeting. She would drive to a "greetee's" residence, ring them up on a cell phone and urge them to "look out your window" where she was holding the greeting.
