The history of the sugarbeet, pictured here, in Blaine County is still celebrated each year. Interestingly sugarbeets now have to be imported for the decorating contest held for the Sugarbeet Festival. The commercial growing of sugarbeets in this area started in 1924 and ended in 1969. The Sugarbeet Festival, which celebrates the sweet beet, started in 2005.
