What is Loaves & Fishes? It is a faith based free lunch program for the children in our community with an activity after lunch. They meet each week Monday through Thursday from June 5 until August 10 at Wallner Hall from 12 noon until 1:30. Any children from the ages of 5 years old to 18 are welcome to attend. A number of locals, including the son of famed Hays-based artist Clarence Cuts The Rope, have asked Wells Fargo executives to donate a large painting, done by Cuts The Rope, to be hung in the new Hays community center when it is completed. The Blaine County Commission has started the process to update the County’s 2012 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). A Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) is a budgeting and financial tool that will be used by the County Commission to set maintenance and repair priorities for things such as roads and buildings. On Tuesday, May 9th, the American Red Cross Blood Drive at Wallner Hall welcomed 52 donors with a total of 47 units collected on a goal of 47. Two first time donors were registered; Evelyn Schubert and Ian McIntosh. Tammy Williams received a 2 gallon pin and Carla Jenewein received a 4 gallon pin. Each unit collected saves three lives. As far as clubs go the Chinook Rod and Gun Club is just in its infancy but in the five years since it resumed activity there is no doubt the impact the club has had on the community. Trustee positions were on the Ballot for Chinook School District No. 10, Harlem School District No. 12 and Hays/Lodge Pole School District No. 50. Colleen Mulonet, one of three co-chairs for the new 2017 North Central Montana Relay, recently described how Blaine and Hill Counties will combine their efforts for the upcoming June 23 event. The collaboration marks a new stage in how the American Cancer Society (ACS) will stage its main, annual fundraiser in this part of Montana. Last week, at its regular monthly meeting, the Blaine County Fair Board approved the erection of an indoor arena at the county fairgrounds in Chinook. The project would utilize a surplus 100' by 200' metal building obtained by the county from the surplus program at Malstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls.
