TURNER CELEBRATES COMMENCEMENT

The 2017 graduation is in the books! It was held this past Saturday, May 20, at the school gymnasium. With a beautifully decorated surroundings, including pots of flowers, streamers, and decorated backdrops, graduates from both Senior High School and Junior High received their diplomas.
The Processional was played on the piano by Mrs. Heather Jorgenson. A welcome was given by Ella Billmayer prior to Rennay Watkins introducing the guest speaker, Mrs. Shelly Harmon. The Senior class then presented their parents and specified guests with a long stem flower accompanied by a variety of songs selected by the class.
Mr. McKenna, School Superintendent, introduced the Valedictorian, Miss Ella Billmayer. Ella then introduced the Salutatorian, Rennay Watkins. A moving slide show of photos taken through the course of their years at Turner, including grades K-12 was shown to the guests that came for the ceremony.
Mr. Johannas Brown presented two of the three scholarship winners from the Big Flat Grain Bin. Each of these scholarships total 700.00. Ella Billmayer and Rennay Watkins were in attendance to accept their scholarship. Counselor, Mr. James Hodgson, presented the Seniors with other Scholarships. They were: Ella Billmayer, Triangle Telephone for $1000.00, A & M Aviation Scholarship for $500.00, Big Flat Electric $250.00 and the Dawn Zellmer Memorial Scholarship. Rennay Watkins was presented a Big Flat Electric Scholarship for $250.00. Mr. Russ McKenna introduced the Junior High School graduates.
The presentation of diplomas was done by Chairman of the board, Mr. Johannas Brown. The Junior High graduates were Brandy Calvert, Ethan Calvert, Shyan Krass, Connor Van Valkenburg, Alaynee Hawley, Shane Kimmel, Brooke Reed, and Austin Welsh. After they received their diploma, the Senior graduates were introduced. They were Ella Billmayer, Whitney Hunter, and Rennay Watkins.
The farewell address was given by Whitney Hunter and the Recessional was by the Class of 2017 and 2021. A party given by the Senior graduate parents was held at the Turner Park. It was a wonderful day!
