    Tax Freedom Day is the day that Americans, collectively, will earn enough to pay their tax bill for the current year. Tax Freedom Day takes all federal, state and local taxes and divides them by the nation’s income. This year Americans will pay $3.5 trillion in federal taxes and $1.6 trillion in state and local taxes, for a total bill of $5.1 trillion (that’s 31 percent of the national income).     Jeanne Dalton and Amelia Funk were recently in Helena representing the Chinook Food Pantry at a statewide ceremony. Dalton is the current director of the local food bank, since January, 2016, and Funk was the first director, serving from 2000 until she retired in late 2015.   • Malstrom EOD Unit called in to dispose of old chemicals from the Chemistry Storage room at CHS

    The Malstrom EOD (Explosive Ordinance Division) was in the Chinook High School on Wednesday, April 12th to dispose of some volatile chemicals that had been sitting in the Chemistry storage room for many years. Picric acid and ethyl ether were the two containers taken away. The high school was evacuated prior to handling the chemicals.
