The library will be closed today through May 1 as new steel shelves are being installed. The double-sided wooden shelves will be sold today in a silent auction from 1:00- 3:00 P.M. All shelves purchased must be removed today by 5:00 P.M.

There will be no Lego Club or Story Hour this week.

The special presentation by Humanities Montana speaker Bill Rossiter will be held Thursday, April 27, 7 P.M. in the library meeting room. The program “Home, Home on the Ranch” tells the story of farm and ranch life in story and song. Be sure to come for this entertaining evening and bring a friend. Refreshments will be served.

Baskets for the Friends of the Library Spring Basket Social fundraiser will be on display and open for silent bidding May 2- May 10.

The final bidding will take place the evening of May 10 from 7:00-8:00 P.M. at the Spring Basket Social. There is a five dollar admittance fee with luscious desserts being served. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.

“Setting Free the Kites” is written by Alex George. This novel tells the story of teenagers Robert Carter and Nathan Tilly who are fast but unlikely best friends. When they take summer jobs at a local run-down amusement park they come to understand unexpected truths about family, desire, and revenge.

The latest C. J. Box book is “Vicious Circle.” The Cates family are out for revenge against game warden Joe Pickett and his family. Joe and his friend Nate Romanowski plan and wait for them to make the first move. But no amount of planning can prepare Joe for what is to come.

Min Jin Lee is the author of “Pachinko.” This story follows one Korean family through generations beginning in the early 1900s. Daughter Sunja’s unplanned pregnancy brings shame on the family. Sunja’s only way out is to marry a young tubercular minster and move to Japan to start a new life. Through trials and triumphs Sunja and her family are bound together by deep roots.

“Bone Box” is the newest Decker and Lazarus novel by Faye Kellerman. Rina Lazarus makes a shocking discovery in the woods near her community in upstate New York. She calls upon her husband Peter Decker, who works with the Greenbury police. With his partner Tyler McAdams they uncover more bodies that point to a serial killer - a killer who is still hiding in plain sight.

A new biography is “Being Elvis” by veteran rock journalist Ray Connolly. He takes a “fresh look at the career of the world’s most beloved singer...forty years after his death.”

A novel of the Civil War is “Good Time Coming” by C.S. Harris. When New Orleans surrenders in the spring of 1862 the little village of St. Fancisville, between Vicksburg and Port Hudson, becomes vulnerable. The sound of cannons edges closer as food and supplies grow scarce. Eleven-year-old Amrie St. Pierre is forced to grow up fast. Her encounter with a Union captain threatens to destroy everyone and everything she holds dear.

Children’s Book Week is next week. This is the perfect time to bring your family to the library. In the children’s section you will find wonderful picture books, chapter books and juvenile nonfiction selections. Spend some time reading, building with blocks, putting together puzzles and discovering at the “I Spy” table.
