Judy Frederick Michael was born and grew up near Wilmington, Delaware. Inspired by many artists displaying work in the Galleries and museums of Wilmington, Philadelphia and New York City. She minored in art throughout high school and college, learning and experimenting in media and under knowledgeable art instructors.

Judy has been a professional artist / painter for over 30 years. She enjoys framing and matting her own work. She established the Hi Line Gallery & Frame in October 1985 in Malta, MT. The shop enables the art collectors and artists to choose from a wide variety of framing samples to enhance their art and to display it with pride. She has worked under several framers in Great Falls and Billings. Judy continues to consult with these framers and receives several Publications monthly to keep abreast of new materials and ideas. Judy Michael's artwork is displayed in galleries in Northwest US, Delaware and Canada.

Judy paints the 'old west', showing the lifestyle and emotions of the life and time of these brave people. A unique feature of Judy's work is the style of collage she has created and perfected to produce a 3D effect. Her paintings are in acrylic; she adds oils, pencil, pastel or scratchboard to help express an image. Also applies layers of acrylic washes on watercolor board or Masonite. The images are 'built up' in acrylic wash and great details may be added. Judy paints home and / or businesses from old family photos and memories. Collectors enjoy the paintings as a tangible object of a memory and love of these buildings. Judy Michael enjoys living in NE MT; painting the scenery, wildlife, homesteads, ghost towns and heritage of the area. She enjoys the history of this unique land and continues to study and learn to capture this area in her paintings. She has participated in the seed show art show for 30+ years.
