Local School Supports World Down Syndrome Day

On March 21, Meadowlark Elementary School staff and students brought awareness to people with Down syndrome with a "Rock Your Socks" Day.
Down Syndrome International (DSI) selected the date for very clever reasons; the 21st day of the third month is a hat-tip to the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome which leads to Down syndrome.
DSI coordinates the Twitter campaign, #lotsofsocks and encourages people all over the world to wear socks, t-shirts or brightly colored clothing to draw attention to 21 March and to raise awareness.
