Blaine County Library

August 19, 2020

Friday August 14th was the final day to turn in time logs for the Summer Reading Program. Kolt Rutledge won the Supersoaker, Laura Danley was the winner of the Simon Optix, and Balen Adair won the Magic Art Kit and Tic Tac Toe game. Aubrey Kalk was our top reader this year with 88 hours of reading and is the recipient of the afterhours pizza party. We will continue to have the Story Walk on Monday and Wednesday, but it will be on the lawn at the library instead of at the school. Take and Make crafts will be available in the library. The final Story Walk will be Wednesday August 19th.

The final Storytime on the grass in front of the Grande Villa will be Tuesday August 18th at 10:30 for ages 6 and under, weather permitting. We ask that you bring a blanket and have at least one parent or care giver. Keep a social distance of six feet and remain on your blanket throughout the program.

The final Beat the Heat movie will be Thursday August 20th and we will be showing LEGO DC Shazam: Magic and Monsters. Run time is 72 minutes. There will be limited seating available to comply with social distancing. We will offer 2 showings of the movie the first from 12:30 to 2:00 and the second from 2:30 to 4:00. Children under 6 must have a parent or caregiver present during the movie. Reservations are recommended.

All patrons age 5 and over are required to wear a face covering to enter the building. The library made the decision to continue to require masks regardless of the active case count. It becomes too confusing for many of our patrons if we require masks one day and not the next, so we will continue requiring them until further notice and we thank the public for your cooperation. We require everyone to wash their hands upon entering the building and to practice social distancing while in the building.

The library has mobile hotspots available for check out. These are small devices used to access the Internet by using a cellular connection. Patrons who have been registered with a good record for at least one month may check out a hotspot for 14 days with no renewals. A user must read and sign a lending agreement and complete a survey upon return of the device. Each user is responsible to return the hotspot on time in good working order. If it is not returned on time the device will be disabled. The mobile hotspots are provided to libraries across the state thanks to a pilot program from Montana State Library.

The library is a Be Counted location for the Montana 2020 Census. If you have not filled out your Census form, stop in and we can get you set up to file your Census online. You do not need the card with your personal number that the Census mailed to fill out the form online. All you need to get started is your physical address.

“A Dog’s Purpose” and “A Dog’s Journey” by W. Bruce Cameron are two new books this week that are part of the August “Dog Days of Summer” book display. “Silent Wife” by Karen Slaughter is a Will Trent thriller available this week. “The Girl from Widow Hills” is a riveting new novel of psychological suspense about a young woman plagued by night terrors after a childhood trauma.
