The Chinook Sugarbeeters and Harlem Wildcat wrestling teams were in Chester on Thursday for a Mixer and stepped into tournament action Friday and Saturday at the Cut Bank Invitational.

The Cut Bank Invitational is good tournament to start the year and the coaches and wrestlers were both looking for a good start to the new year.

Chinook senior Wyatt Dunbar continued his strong effort on the mat, finishing second in the 285 pound weight class. Junior Tyler Schoen also turned in an outstanding effort collecting a second place finish at 170 pounds.

'Sugarbeeter sophomore Lane Snider has been getting better each time he steps on the mat and finished fifth at 145 pounds.

'Beeter sophomore Riley Hofeldt again turned in a solid effort on the mat finishing second at 126/132. Chinook senior Shay Hauer found herself on the podium with a third place finish at 120 pounds in the girls tournament.

The Lady Cats continue to shine on the mat earning another team trophy for the cabinet, finishing third overall at the Cut Bank Invitational.

Junior Amelia Blackcrow wrestled her way to a second place finish at 145 pounds. Freshman Ihte Stiffarm also collected a second place finish for the Lady Cats at 152 pounds. Freshman Izzy Baker finished third at 113 pounds and sophomore Kaitlyn Johnson was fourth at 126/132.

Dunbar has consistently been a podium finisher all season long and is ranked No. 2 in the State B/C polls. Dunbar went 3-1 at the Cut Bank Invitational, winning two matches by pin before falling in the Championship match.

Schoen is ranked No. 3 at 170 pounds and was again solid in Cut Bank finishing second at 170 pounds. Schoen also went 3-1 by winning two matches by pin and one by decision en rout to the Championship match.

Chinook sophomore Lane Snider had himself a tournament in Cut Bank. Snider got the most mat time of anyone going 6-2 to finish fifth at 145 pounds.

Snider won five matches pin before winning the fifth place match by a decision. Both his losses were two-point losses to the same Shelby wrestler.

Hauer went 2-2 in Cut Bank winning both of her matches by pin. Hofeldt has been stellar all season and continues to improve each time out. Friday in Cut Bank she went 2-1 winning both matches by pin.

Harlem's Amelia Blackcrow finished second at 145 pounds. Blackcrow went 3-2 on the day winning two matches by pin. Freshman Ihte Stiffarm went 1-1 in Cut Bank winning her match by pin.

Harlem freshman Joe Arensmeyer went 2-2 in Cut Bank for the Wildcats.

Harlem Head Coach Jonny Baker was pleased with the overall performance of both the boys and girls teams, "We need to keep pushing mental toughness, the boys continue to learn technique and mat awareness with experience, but have to gain confidence in themselves."

The success the Lady Cat wrestlers are having is contagious, "It lights a fire among all the wrestlers to see hardware coming home week after week. The boys are hungry for competition and can't wait to get out to another meet to test themselves and seek a win," concluded Baker.

Both the Sugarbeeters and the Harlem wrestling teams will now turn their attention to the Bulldog Invitational in Choteau this Friday and Saturday. This is another high quality tournament that will test both teams.
